Did You Know?

Accessories such as a string of glass beads were among various burial items in the Joseon period (1392–1910).

Description

Over the course of the Joseon period (1392–1910), burials became simpler in comparison to earlier periods due to the increasing reverence for Neo-Confucian teachings focusing on everyday ethics rather than salvation after death. However, this type of small object, which might have been cherished by the dead, were still buried as the token of memory.
