About The Event

Hear insights from curator Cory Korkow and Marcia Steele, former senior conservator of paintings, as they discuss the recent conservation of the CMA’s Italian Baroque painting Danaë by Orazio Gentileschi (1563–1639), which has revealed a more vibrant and refined work than has hitherto been possible to perceive. The event will include a musical performance and Q&A with Korkow and Steele. Danaë is at the center of an intimate group of paintings by father and daughter that beautifully distills the artists’ capacity to modify and manipulate forms across subjects in the spring exhibition Variations: The Reuse of Models in Paintings by Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi. The exhibition opens April 11 and runs through August 22 in the Julia and Larry Pollock Focus Gallery.

Leadership Circle members and CMA Fund for Exhibitions supporters will receive a digital invitation.

This event will be hosted on Zoom; the event link and instructions will be provided to those who RSVP.
