About The Event

Join multidisciplinary artist Sheela Das at the Community Arts Center during the winter solstice weekend to create your own celestial puppet! The winter solstice often represents the rebirth of light and the promise of renewal. This workshop is open to people of all ages and all artistic abilities. All materials are provided, though young children require adult assistance and monitoring.  

Das is a recipient of the Ohio Arts Council Artist Opportunities grant that enables her to consult with master artists around the country to expand her creation of large-scale puppetry within the community. Through this grant, Das has been investing her time and resources in the craft of puppetry. She has worked with artists across Ohio in the hope of sharing her findings and creating ways for this medium to be accessible for all. Learn more about Das and her work on her artist website.

¡Únete a la artista multidisciplinaria Sheela Das en el Centro de Artes Comunitarias durante el fin de semana del solsticio de invierno para crear tu propia marioneta celestial! El solsticio de invierno a menudo representa el renacimiento de la luz y la promesa de renovación. Este taller está abierto a personas de todas las edades y todas las habilidades artísticas.
