About The Event
Charya Burt, choreographer and dancer, is based in Windsor, California. Her company, Charya Burt Cambodian Dance, has performed her original dances throughout the country, including at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She is a graduate of Phnom Penh’s Royal University of Fine Arts and Sonoma State University and she has received a number of honors, including a Dance/USA Fellowship.
On the occasion of the closing weekend of the Revealing Krishna exhibition, Ms. Burt presents a concert of traditional dances celebrating a legacy of Cambodian culture and featuring Cambodian master musicians in a pinpeat orchestra performing ceremonial music of courts and temples.
These programs are made possible in part by the Ernest L. and Louise M. Gartner Fund, the P. J. McMyler Musical Endowment Fund, and the Anton and Rose Zverina Music Fund.
