In honor of the opening of Shinto: Discovery of the Divine in Japanese Art, don’t miss the rare opportunity to experience Tsukushi Mai, one of the oldest dance performing arts on Tue, 4/9. Dance performances are at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Tsukushi Mai is presented by the Miyajidake Jinja Shrine.

Lecture: Caves of Dunhuang: Buddhist Art on China’s Silk Road

The spectacular Buddhist caves of Dunhuang on the Silk Road in northwest China are a UNESCO World Heritage site with sculptures and wall paintings among the finest examples of Buddhist art in China. In this lecture, Dr. Mimi Gardner Gates, Director Emerita, Seattle Art Museum, addresses the challenges of preserving the site today.
