Did You Know?

The final eclipse of the second millennium CE—a partial solar eclipse—took place on Christmas Day 2000.

Description

Barbara Bosworth was visiting her parents in Sanibel, Florida during that eclipse. To make this photograph, the artist punched pinholes in a large cardboard sheet and held it between the sun and her father. During the eclipse, the pinholes projected images of the sun onto his hands, with part of its circle covered by the moon.
