Description

This alluring portrait of a high heel is part of a series of forty small photographs of small objects produced by Winokur in 1985. Comprised of mundane objects, the group included a soccer ball, a telephone, dog toys, a hat, a clock, and some dogs. Winokur isolated these subjects against plain, high-key color backdrops, transforming the everyday into the glamorous.
A high-heeled pump shown in profile features a glossy patchwork of multicolored shapes, including orange, blue, white, teal, yellow, red, purple, and light green. These sections are separated by thick black lines across the exterior. A slender black stiletto heel descends from the rear on our right, and the shoe's interior is solid black. The toe points toward our left, centered against a vibrant green field that fills the background.
