The Onrush of Time

Cherokee artist Kay Walkingstick focuses on the American landscape and its universal metaphorical significance and spiritual energy. Her Onrush of Time triptych was made at a time of grief following her husband’s death. Focusing on the all-powerful natural force of a waterfall, the work was made to confront universal themes such as grief, rebirth and finding tranquility in nature.

A square offset lithograph depicts a pale yellow diamond centered within a dark brown downward-pointing geometric shape. Swirling teal and blue tones fill the background in circular patterns. Numerous small, dark rectangular marks follow these curved lines. Overlaid across the composition, fine green strokes encircle the central forms and radiate toward the edges of the print.
