Did You Know?

Ruth Orkin often photographed whatever she could see out of the windows of the apartments she lived in.

Description

One can imagine Orkin feeling a kinship to this dog. Resembling a grumpy old man, it leans on the windowsill and watches the world go by content to remain inside his home.
A vertically oriented black-and-white photograph depicts a dog with a short muzzle and upright ears looking through a window. Its head and white-tipped paws rest on the wooden windowsill. Sheer, patterned curtains hang on our left and right, framing a dark interior behind the animal. The dog has a dark coat, a white patch on its snout, and wrinkled skin across its brow as it looks directly out at the camera.
