A horizontally oriented, sepia-toned photogravure depicts two cloaked figures on horseback atop a light, gravelly mound. Facing away, they appear as dark silhouettes against a vast, hazy sky occupying most of the frame. To our left, a figure sits on a dark horse; to the right, another rides a horse with pale hindquarters. Low, dark mountains line the horizon. Text at bottom left reads, "A GRAY DAY IN THE BAD LANDS."
