A vertically oriented photogravure in sepia depicts Chief Garfield, a man with a medium skin tone and a stoic expression. He wears a towering feather headdress with a beaded band. Thick fur-wrapped braids and a large hoop earring on our left frame his face. Beneath a dark robe and fur pelts, he wears a patterned shirt and bow tie. Gazing slightly to our right, his figure emerges from a soft, shadowy background.
