A cream-colored double-leaf spread features an illustration of a tortoise on the right. Facing left, the animal has a light-gray shell with sketchy outlines and fine hatching. Vertical columns of black Japanese calligraphy are painted in fluid strokes that streak slightly, ending with a small red square stamp. While the right side contains the composition, the left leaf remains entirely blank.
