A horizontal drawing in ink and wash on light brown paper depicts a man in a scholar's cap riding a donkey toward our right. He looks back over his shoulder toward a small, reddish demon pulling the animal's rope. Another demon follows, carrying a bundle. Faint, sketchy lines suggest a mountain peak in the distance. Spare brushstrokes define the figures, while vertical Japanese calligraphy and a red seal occupy the far right edge.
