Did You Know?

This impression of a book of woodblock-printed designs is missing a spread that depicts a crane.
A vertically oriented woodblock print in black ink on cream paper depicts a boy sitting cross-legged in the center, holding a flute to his lips. Directly behind him, a massive reclining ox with dark, irregular spots turns its head toward the right. Below them, a sparse ink line and soft gray wash define a sloping hillside. The composition captures the quiet harmony between the musician and the large, patterned beast.
