Did You Know?

This impression of a book of woodblock-printed designs is missing a spread that depicts a crane.
An open book features a woodblock print of a black-inked peony plant on cream paper. Delicate lines outline a blooming flower and a bud on the left, surrounded by clusters of pointed leaves. A thick, dark, thorny branch extends from the lower right and curves toward the center. The minimalist composition leaves much of the background empty, highlighting the contrast between the soft petals and the rugged, textured stems.
