Did You Know?

This impression of a book of woodblock-printed designs is missing a spread that depicts a crane.
A horizontally oriented woodblock print on tan paper across two pages sparsely depicts a bird with an open beak perched on a gnarled branch. The bird features a long, pointed tail. Willow branches with narrow leaves drape from the upper right, while thin grass blades emerge at the lower left. Black and gray ink washes create an expressive composition against the warm, aged tone of the paper.
