This impression of a book of woodblock-printed designs is missing a spread that depicts a crane.
A horizontally oriented ink print on tan paper features a pine branch rising across two open pages. Needles are rendered in sharp, thin strokes of black and gray ink; some appear translucent while others are solid and opaque. To the lower right, a cluster of dark, pointed leaves provides a dense contrast to the fine, radiating lines of the needles.
