Did You Know?

Shazanrō was one of Tani Bunchō's style names.
Woodblock ink on horizontally oriented cream paper depicts a large crab spread across two pages. Mottled grey and brown washes define the shell, topped by a sheaf of grain, while fine, hair-like bristles line spindly legs. A thin black border frames the illustration. In the lower left corner sits a small square red seal. Patterned fabric binding in gold and green is visible at the outer margins.
