An open woodblock-printed book reveals two vertical pages of light tan paper filled with black Japanese calligraphy. On the right, long columns of loopy characters streak down the page. The left page features shorter poetic blocks staggered above small names near the bottom. Staining marks the central fold of the aged paper, where delicate ink lines vary in thickness, creating a rhythmic movement across the entire spread.
