A double-page spread from a woodblock-printed book features vertical columns of black ink calligraphy on creamy beige paper. Ten rows of loopy, undulating characters on the right sit above shorter names. On the left, nine columns lead to names at the bottom. Divided by a central fold, fluid brushstrokes streak down the pages, with ink occasionally fading into grayed remnants where the brush thinned against the textured surface.
