An open woodblock-printed book features two pages of black-inked Japanese characters on cream paper. The loopy characters streak down the pages, with some strokes fading out against the weathered, matte surface. Long rows of text are accented by smaller characters at the bottom, while the right page features a cluster of bold, thick brushstrokes. A visible center fold divides the spread's rhythmic ink patterns.
