An open book reveals two cream pages covered in vertical columns of black-inked calligraphy. Loopy, cursive characters meander down the paper in fluid strokes that occasionally fade into dry, thin wisps. Long columns occupy the upper half, while shorter rows of text are neatly anchored at the bottom. On the far right, the stacked, layered edges of numerous thin pages highlight the delicate texture and depth of this woodblock volume.
