An open woodblock-printed book displays vertical rows of black Japanese calligraphy on matte, cream-colored paper. The loopy characters flow in a cursive script, their thickness varying as ink occasionally fades out. Dense text on our right sits above smaller characters, while larger, darker strokes stand out on our left. The book's binding is visible along the right edge, highlighting the aged texture of the paper.
