Black ink calligraphy on horizontally oriented aged paper features two distinct sides. The left is a blank expanse of mottled cream paper with a diagonal fold at the corner. On the right, vertical columns of ink flow downward, their fluid brushstrokes varying in thickness across the textured, off-white background. The book's sewn binding is visible along the far right edge of the open spread.
