A horizontally oriented two-page spread features vertical columns of black ink calligraphy on textured, cream-colored paper. The fluid characters streak from top to bottom, the ink occasionally thinning and fading. Smaller characters are clustered at the base of several columns. Subtle darkening frames the edges of the well-worn pages, and the book's binding is visible along the far right edge.
