An open woodblock-printed book features two pages of black-inked Japanese calligraphy on light tan paper. Fluid, connected script flows down in numerous vertical columns, with brushstrokes varying from thin and wispy to thick and dark. Below these columns, short blocks of characters are neatly arranged in a horizontal row. A small fold in the upper left corner adds a subtle physical detail to the traditional, rhythmic composition.
