Watercolor on vertically oriented cream vellum features two nested, hand-painted red rectangular borders. The thin lines, slightly translucent and irregular, frame an empty central space within a bound volume. To our right, the stacked edges of several pages are visible. The vellum surface has a subtle, mottled texture, while the red borders exhibit variations in tone where the pigment was more heavily applied.
