A vertically oriented lithograph depicts a woman seated in a chair facing our right, cradling a child wrapped in light-colored cloth. The woman's dark hair is rendered in dense lines, her head tilted down as her arms brace the child. Thick, sketchy lines and heavy shading create strong contrast against the cream paper. The child looks toward our left. A signature is visible at the bottom center of the composition.
