Description

This sketchbook contains 72 pages of pencil drawings and 9 watercolors of Cape Ann. On the inside of the cover Prendergast wrote the address of the Granite Shore Hotel in Rockport, Massachusetts.
A vertically oriented graphite drawing on a yellowed page depicts cursive text above two figures. The text reads, "the granite Shore Hotel Rockport." On our left, a nude woman stands in profile with arms raised. To our right, another nude woman stands with her back to us, hands resting at her waist. Both are rendered with loose, dark lines against the aged paper.
