Description

This sketchbook contains 69 pages of drawings, a diary largely devoted to the state of the artist's health, and a three-page discourse on the nature of genius and ideas.
A horizontally oriented graphite sketch on tan paper depicts five figures in loose, gestural outlines. In the foreground, a figure reclines with their head to the right. Behind them, another sits upright while a third sits to the left, looking inward. In the faint background, two standing figures flank a circular form. The torn sheet rests on lined paper, framed by a thin border drawn with quick, energetic strokes.
