A vertically oriented drypoint print in black ink on cream paper depicts a man named Alfred Stevens from the chest up. Looking toward our right, he has short, wavy hair and a mouth set in a firm line. Fine hatching defines the contours and shadows of his face. Clad in a light, buttoned shirt, he is framed by a thin rectangular border against a plain, neutral background.
