A vertically oriented woodcut in dense black-inked fine lines depicts Pilate, an older man with a light skin tone, seated beneath a large, fringed canopy. He wears a fur-trimmed robe and pointed hat while washing his hands in water poured by an attendant. To the left, soldiers with light skin tones hold spears and halberds. Behind them stands a brick wall. Dense hatching and cross-hatching create strong contrast throughout the composition.
