A vertically oriented etching on off-white paper depicts a young blue jay in profile. Dense, fine-hatched lines render textures and dark horizontal bands on the wings and tail. A black collar wraps around its throat. The bird perches on a scaly pine branch directly above a round, textured pinecone. Sparse, needle-like twigs sweep from the upper stem. The background is plain, with a signature in the lower right.
