A rectangular bronze plaque features a warm golden patina shown in two views. On the front, a mustached James McNeill Whistler stands on our right, hand on hip, facing a butterfly symbol and text reading "JAMES MCNEILL WHISTLER PAINTER ETCHER AVTHOR." On the back, a peacock with a cascading tail stands on our left. The quoted text "MESSIEURS LES ENNEMIS!" occupies the center, while another butterfly symbol is etched in the lower right.
