A rectangular bronze medal with rounded top corners is cast with a woman seated in high relief among shattered stone blocks and broken columns. Facing forward, leaning right with legs extended left, her tattered clothing exposes one breast against a background of jagged, rocky textures. At the bottom, a border is inscribed with French block letters: "ICI LES BARBARES SONT PASSES." The dark gold metal highlights the contrast between her smooth form and the ruins.
