This rectangular bronze medal displays two sides. One side depicts a winged figure supporting a helmeted soldier who grips a long rifle. The figure raises a leafy branch toward the upper right; "AUX BRAVES" is inscribed below. The reverse features two crossed plant fronds in the lower right corner. The medal's warm, brown surface is punctuated by golden highlights on the raised relief, catching light against the aged, darker background.
