Spend Spring Break at the Cleveland Museum of Art

Cleveland (March 15, 2021)—Spend spring break at the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA). Visitors may explore favorite galleries, tour limited-time exhibitions and see Peter Fischli and David Weiss’ Snowman in the Ames Family Atrium before it goes off view March 21. Visitors may also enjoy lunch in the museum’s Provenance Café, featuring a selection of grab-and-go options.

Outside, stroll through the tree-lined walkways of the Fine Arts Garden—masterfully designed by the firm of landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of Central Park in New York City—and the Smith Family Gateway, the recently completed park along the west side of the building featuring lush landscaping and overlooks.

The Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation Exhibition Hall and Gallery

Through 20 personal stories told by the CMA’s curators, this exhibition offers a thoughtful and focused examination of multiple important themes through seldom seen works of art.

Gustave Baumann: Colorful Cuts

James and Hanna Bartlett Prints and Drawings Gallery

The exhibition celebrates the 2005 gift to the CMA of 65 color woodcuts and 26 drawings by the artist. It illustrates how Baumann worked and features his color woodcuts and drawings inspired by the landscapes, architecture and cultures of Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, New Mexico and New York.

Fashioning Identity: Mola Textiles of Panamá

Arlene M. and Arthur S. Holden Textile Gallery

For the Guna women of Panamá, the mola, a hand-sewn cotton blouse and a key component of traditional dress, is a powerful symbol of culture and identity. The exhibition explores the mola as both a cultural marker and the product of an artistic tradition, demonstrating the important role women artists play in the construction of social identity.

This exhibition was supported in part by the Ohio Arts Council, which receives support from the State of Ohio and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Laura Owens: Rerun
CMA at Transformer Station
Through May 30, 2021

Organized by the CMA, the exhibition is a collaboration with high school students participating in the museum’s Arts Mastery program, Currently Under Curation (CUC). It features new and existing works by the artist that the CUC teens have selected to explore the theme of time travel. Laura Owens: Rerun is on view at Transformer Station, the CMA’s sister contemporary art museum.

Bruce Davidson: Brooklyn Gang and the contemporary art galleries are closed for reinstallation until April 20, 2021.

Visiting the museum’s permanent collection is always FREE to the public. Reserve FREE entry tickets. The museum’s hours of operation are Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is closed Mondays.

The last ticket reservation for the day is at 4 p.m. There are no new entries into the museum after 4:30 p.m.
