Heidi Strean

Chief Exhibitions, Design, and Publications Officer

The Margaret and Loyal Wilson Chief Exhibition, Design, and Publications Officer

Heidi Strean has served the Cleveland Museum of Art since 2001, administering and managing all aspects of the museum’s ambitious program of in-house and loan-based exhibitions.

Over the course of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s expansion and renovation (2005–13), Heidi managed touring collection exhibitions nationally and internationally, and coordinated regional collaborations with northeast Ohio area institutions.

Since 2013, the management of curatorial publications from concept through production and distribution has also been under Heidi’s purview. Growing both the exhibition and publication program of the museum, she oversees these areas as the museum presents more than two dozen exhibitions annually and publishes in the range of six monographs or catalogues at a matching pace.

Heidi is an active member of the American Exhibitions Organizers, as well as the International Exhibition Organizers; for both organizations she has served as a steering committee member as well as session leader, meeting chair, and co-chair.

Heidi has served as an adjunct professor in Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University, teaching museum operations. Prior to that, she was responsible for exhibition management and installation planning at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, including the 54th Carnegie International.

She received a bachelor of fine arts in design from Central Michigan University and a master of arts management from the Heinz School of Public Policy & Management at Carnegie Mellon University.
