Inspired by community festival traditions throughout the world, Community Arts festivals invite people of all ages to create alongside professional artists. Festival days are free for spectators. Preparatory workshops for each festival are offered for a modest fee.
Parade the Circle is the second Saturday in June. Free workshops in parade skills for teachers and leaders of community groups preparing parade entries begin in March at the parade studio. Public workshops at the museum; where artists help you create your parade entry, begin in May.
The Chalk Festival is in September. Make chalk and learn street painting techniques at a preparatory workshop.
The Winter Lights Lantern Festival is in December. Make sophisticated lanterns inspired by world lantern traditions at November workshops or make simple lanterns for the lantern procession at free Holiday CircleFest lantern workshops.
