Nudes in a Landscape
1781
Location: not on view
Description
Le Barbier’s watercolor reflects the taste for Neoclassicism in late 18th-century France. In addition to the representation of nude figures, the artist’s admiration for antique art and architecture is also seen in the statuesque group of robed women standing in the central middle ground and the classicizing round temple on the right.- {{cite web|title=Nudes in a Landscape|url=false|author=Jean-Jacques-François Lebarbier, called Le Barbier L’Aîné|year=1781|access-date=19 April 2024|publisher=Cleveland Museum of Art}}
