Description
This drawing of Rocamadour, a town in southwestern France situated in a gorge above a tributary of the Dordogne River, was executed on site. The church of Notre Dame, part of a complex of monastic buildings and pilgrimage churches, contains the venerated statue of a wooden Black Madonna reputed to have been carved by Saint Amadour.- Modern Gothic: The Etchings of John Taylor Arms.
