Description

Although this scene of a nude woman lounging in her bedchamber appears to be drawn with red chalk like the drawings by Greuze and Boucher nearby, it is actually a printed image. Chalk-manner etchings and engravings are made using special punches and rollers with teeth of various sizes set at irregular intervals to re-create the natural granular effects of chalk lines drawn on textured paper.
