Description
Hugnet "collaborated" with the 19th-century French painter Louis Chassevent in 1935 by adding two collage elements and his own signature to Chassevent’s 1876 drawing of the entrance to a classical building, possibly a temple. Historically a member of a priestly caste of ancient Persia, the magus has taken on many different roles over the centuries, including those of magician, astrologer, and sage, such as the Magi or Three Wise Men of the Nativity.- Kaufmann Family Estate, Los Angeles, CARobert Hamburger [b.1943], New York, NY2007David Raymond [b.1979], New York, NYThe Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH
