Description

Margaret Bourke-White established her reputation as a photographer of American industry. Active in Cleveland 1927–29, she was repeatedly attracted to the city's most distinctive landmark, Terminal Tower (completed 1927), which was then the second tallest building in the United States. She documented the tower from numerous vantage points, at different times of day, and under varied atmospheric conditions. Her pictures often have a romantic quality achieved through the combination of clouds, steam, and soft focus.
