Description

Evans encountered this store display of household goods as he was photographing in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in November and December 1935 for the Farm Security Administration. The objects floating in space add a surreal component to this image. As ordinary as they are, they may have been unattainable to the passersby thrown out of work by the Depression.
