Description
This lift-top chest, with its decorative panels defined by moldings, may be associated with furniture made by John Symonds and his sons of Salem, Massachusetts. The thin, "split spindle" decorations are made by gluing two separate pieces of wood together and then splitting them after turning (shaping on a lathe).- Year in Review for 1984. The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH (organizer) (April 3-May 5, 1985).
