Description
Tankards of this form were made toward the end of the 1600s in various port cities rimming the Baltic Sea. This example is enriched with a detailed scene of Moses striking the rock, executed in Augsburg, Germany, in about 1675–78.- said to have been in the collection of the Russian Imperial Court until the 1920s.
