Each year we reach out to our museum family with a request to make an additional, year-end gift. This year we’re offering you the option of supporting a specific project area. Please read below for more information on how your gift can make a difference.
And don’t forget that any Annual Appeal gift can be made in honor of someone special. Consider making your gift even more meaningful by donating in celebration of a birthday or as a holiday gift!
Framing Initiative—The great American landscape artist Thomas Cole once said, “The soul of a painting can be found in its frame.” Custom-made frames can transform the way we view an artwork, at times literally adding light and dimension to a piece. A number of works in the collection remain in storage due to the condition of their frames.
Your gift to the framing initiative will aid in the reinvigoration of numerous works in the collection—from prints and drawings to European and American paintings.
Teen Programs—Future Connections offers 8-week paid internships for teens from under-served communities. Museum Ambassadors gives participants hands-on experience in exhibition design and development. Teen Co-Op is run by teens for teens; its members develop gallery programming and serve as either Gallery One hosts or Art Stories organizers.
Your gift to Teen Programs will help to expand current offerings as well as fund a series of teen-hosted events scheduled for 2014.
Daily Operations—Every facet of museum activity is affected by your support of operations. In essence, your gift assists in the daily life of the museum. Your support enables us to provide free admission for more than 500,000 visitors and employ over 350 museum employees—as well as photograph, exhibit and conserve over 46,000 objects in the museum’s world-renowned collection.
Your gift to operations allows the museum to be both responsive to its short-term needs and attentive to its long-range goals.
Annual Fund gifts to the Cleveland Museum of Art provide vital operating support to the areas of greatest need. With your donation, you are making an investment that impacts the museum in countless ways. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide the museum with important unrestricted operating support for our programs, exhibitions, and conservation of the collection.
With your support, each year, the museum is able to:
- Offer school tours to 78,488 children
- Produce a variety of on- and off-site educational programs for over 400,000 participants
- Entertain 75,000 spectators at Parade the Circle
- Spark creativity in 19,000 budding artists at Chalk Festival
- Engage 16,500 attendees during live performance and film programs
- Add 13,000 items to the museum’s Ingalls Library collection
- Present special exhibitions to 84,000 viewers
- Provide free admission for 500,000 museum visitors
If you are considering a gift of $250 or more, you may wish to participate in the Circles Program. Gifts of $250 or more will be recognized in the philanthropy issue of Cleveland Art members magazine.
