Description

Alternating densely woven surfaces with suspended threads, Mitsuko Asakura’s piece is made of dyed strands of silk, a process the artist has perfected over her career. She says, “The structure of weaving is comparable to that of pointillism (the technique of applying small dots of color) in painting. Colors never really mix together in textile, they keep their distinct colors and fresh transparency under light.”
