A vertically oriented color lithograph in muted beige depicts a wooden water wheel on a steep, sandy bank. Fine, sketchy lines form the wheel and a chain of ceramic jars descending into a channel. Upper right, a person stands by white oxen beneath a tall palm tree. Delicate strokes suggest distant birds and sparse foliage. Printed text at the bottom reads, PERSIAN WATER-WHEEL, USED FOR IRRIGATION IN NUBIA.
